To date him or not to date him? That is the question

Hello all!

My name is Selena and I'm currently 17. I've liked this guy for over a year now, and he recently told me that he likes me to (via a text). We don't have any classes together this year, and we've really only been keeping in touch through texting. I do really want to go out with him, but both my best friend and my mom say that I shouldn't go out with him. It's not because he's a bad guy, but rather I'm a senior in high school and currently hav only 2 more months of school left. I know that he and I aren't going to the sane college either. With this in mind, should I still try to go out with him, or am I setting myself up for trouble in the future?

Go out with him. But understand that's it not going to last. Doesn't mean it can't be a fun thing while it'll last. If you don't think you can handle something short term then move along. Take a chance, maybe it'll be a good thing.

Why does spending time with a guy has to end up being a serious relationship? It doesn't have to so go, go on and enjoy yourself!

If you are the type that gets attached, (and i suspect you are or your mother wouldn't have cautioned you), I would advise against it.
