Calling girl behind my back/cheating?

My boyfriend of two years has had
A problem with lying. Recently I found
A girls number added to his contacts
He swore for weeks that he could not
Remember who she was or why he put
Her in there??? Now he says it's someone
He used to know and ran into..they only
Talked once. I have no way of knowing the
Truth.... But isn't that amount of lying
About another woman the same as cheating?
And I find it hard to believe that someone
Would go to that much trouble lying about
Someone if it was completely innocent.

I don't think it's cheating ... yet. Certainly a yellow flag! How would you have reacted if he had come to you on his own and told you he ran into this girl and had talked to her?

And what I should add is that he
Did do this before and never told
The girl he had a girlfriend. Not sure
If he cheated then either. But he knows
I am about at the end of my rope with
All his lies. And he did cheat in his first
Marriage...I think he may be slipping
Into old patterns. Why would someone lie
To that extent....we are in our 40's..
Isn't that a little old to still be lying about
Women...unless there is a reason??

Why would someone lie...

They prefer to lie and rather than tell the truth and have to face consequences.

I'm not saying he's cheating, but if he cheated in his marriage, then he's capable of cheating on you.

Cheating is irrelevant- the lying is a red flag.
