Advice for a college girl?

There is a guy I have class with who I have developed a little crush on. He is a few years older than me and I don't really know much about him, but I would like to change that. The problem is, I know enough about him to know he is not in a position to go out with me at the moment. I want to let him know I am interested and, when he is available, would like to get to know him better. How can I do that without making our limited interaction incredibly awkward?

The best way is to get his number and say hey can we get together to go over class things(study) and see where that leads to get to know him better. Seems like an easy/harmless way to get know someone.

^ Even though that seems kind of cliche, I think that may be one of the better options for this given situation.
