We've been broken up for good since April. We had zero contact until he text me a few weeks ago apologizing for hurting me and some small talk (see my last thread). We haven't talked since then. Well, yesterday was my birthday and I wondered if he'd say something. He didn't text me at all yesterday, but I woke up this morning to my phone receiving a text message - it was him, wishing me a happy belated birthday.
I know he knows my birthday was yesterday. So why bother sending me a text, if it's late?
I didn't respond.

probably he misses you. don't go back to a relationship that isn't meant to be.

Maybe he just wants to be in good terms with you as FRIENDS. It's better if you don't think about everything that guys do especially if you're not together already. Just act normal. Thank him and move on with life

I ignored his text. Haven't heard from him since! I SOMEHOW felt bad for not saying thanks, or anything, especially since I didn't wish him happy birthday on his, but he was "nice" enough to wish me a happy BELATED birthday - but then I reminded myself oh how horribly he treated me and what he put me through. So ya, I definitely did NOT respond
I don't see a point in him texting me that, though. To be on good terms? For what reason? Whatever the reason, I hope he never finds another one to text me again. He shattered my heart, the most valuable thing I trusted him with. Then he apologizes for that 3 months later? Just to relieve his guilt, I assume? His reasons for texting me are probably for his own good... not about me. He doesn't care about me anymore, or want to be friends, etc.!
