Is the "Log Out" link just a joke?

Every time I click on the Log Out link, it says:
An error occurred while attempting to log you out. Click here to log out.
I click there and it claims that all the cookies have been cleard. I then go to the index page just to discover that I'm STILL logged in! Is this some sort of communist board that doesn't allow the users out?

Jokes aside: could it please be fixed?

I know I could simpy clear all my cookies manually but I still want cookies that are used for other pages. (Don't we all like cookies? Especially with milk!)

The first one who says to go fish them out manually every time I want to log out should go and rethink his/her life.

    Thanks!

Some days (like today) I continue to be logged on, other days I am logged out. Don't know why - I am not particularly computer literate - but I find logging in and out annoying, so it works for me.

    Thanks for your "sympathy".
Ummm... what if it would be more sane for me if I logged out?!?
In other words: I NEED to log out!

Click the log out again until you are fully clear off cookie and the system return without any error.

    How to solve this problem....
Next time you are able to log out, and you log back in... DONT click the arrow that says remember me next time i come to this site or whatever...
That way every time you X off the site youll automatically be logged out.

Also another trick that I've been doing...
If I'm logged out when I arrive to the page all I have to do is press the home button again and it logs me in.

Joseph: Your trick worked, but as soon as I went to another page, I'm logged in again! Any other advice?

LovelyLady: I know about that but when I surf forums, I usually have multiple windows open so I can read in one while another loads and for that I need it to remember me. (How was I to know that I would not be able to log out?)
I guess my only solution is to fish out those cookies manually.
