LEARNING HOW TO SMILE
The sun shines down on us
and the tree that stands alone,
But on the other side
Is the shadow some call home
If you see someone today
A stranger or a friend
Listen to their eyes
To a pain that can be seen
The eyes reveal a world
which we live inside our heads
They are stories and naked truths
That we take each night to bed
My heart goes out to those
It pours with thousand hugs
Those who feel it’s over
With not much else to give
Everyone needs to know
We all need that sign
Happiness is somewhere out there
We all deserve to smile
Today I feel quite down
I try to force a smile
But tears are instead expressed
As I search within my soul
The candle inside my heart
A flame of hope for happiness
Has finally given way
For a greater meaning of Life
What use for hope?
And it’s selfish wants and dreams?
They no longer fill my heart
I now can finally see
Things are now more clear
I’m learning how to smile
My life I’ll live for people
People who are not heard
Those who are not loved
And those who need a hug
My life I give to you
For nothing in return
My care reserved for you
I’m learning how to smile
