How well do you know him so far? If it's not too personal, give a little info on his personality. Afterwards, it'll be more easier to analyze him.
Girl, some men need instructional booklets!
And the guys here all have their own opinions...

It comes down to their experiences I think...
everything happens for a reason...beginning to wonder why.
i feel that this guy isn't ready to settle down reguardless of how much he may tell you that he loves you. the truth is that he loves to keep his options open. by settling down, he'll take away from the choice that he can still come back to you later in life. to straighten tihs guy out, tell him the truth... either start to get serious to start looking for another gf. you're not getting younger and i know that you're constantly thinking about starting a family. put yourself first this time and think about yourself. raverboy
...this is just my perspective on the situation...
I can say that I never understood the fear of commitment thing, I've never been afraid of commitment, but then again, I'm a lot younger. I think that since he's 27 and has been with you for several years he thinks you (or those around him) expect him to marry (you) and he is not ready to marry yet, so that scared him.
I gave you my heart
I gave you my soul

Post more about him if you can elen, like MVP said I am leaning towards the "He is afraid of marraige" thing. Although it could be other things. How well did you all get along? Does he call you because he wants to or because he feels obligated to do so?
Impossible is a word only to be found in the dictionary of fools.
