For some people, this is major. They think it indicates what the rest of their year will be like, romantically speaking.

I knew a guy once who drove all the way downtown to the restaurant I worked in to run in the door at 11:58 and kiss his girlfriend, then run back out again. She had to work until 2:00, but he didn't want to miss that crucial midnight kiss.

I've never noticed it made a bit of difference.
