I wrote this today at work.
NO LONGER NEAR
From the first time, when I ask you to dance,
To our last argument, when I lost my chance,
I held you in my heart so dear,
And I still do…but you’re no longer near.
You fill my mind, with every breath,
You’ll surely be in my thoughts ‘til death.
But death is not embraced so dearly,
For heaven without your love would be merely,
A place of eternal lonesome and sorrow,
Day after day, a never coming tomorrow.
I wish it things not happen the way they did,
For I’d not be such a shattered, broken little kid.
I miss the warmth of your sweet embrace,
I miss the freckles scattered on your cute face.
I long to be the one you come to run,
But I see my chances now are slim to none.
I want you to be happy, you know that’s true,
But TaKeisha, the only love for me is you.
If fate so happens to call upon us again,
Please give me the chance, to be more than a friend.
I held you in my heart so dear,
And I still do…but you’re no longer near.
