    Montreal Program

    So

I'm off to Montreal at the end of this month. Setting up a program of things to do and things to see. Apart from Niagra falls and Quebec city + festivals, this is what I'm planning to see. Has anyone else been there? Any other suggestions?

Might take a tour of Old Montreal on one of these

I've heard that the underground city is a nice shopping area

Notre-Dame Basilica looks like a place to visit

Juliette et Chocolat looks like a place worth a try

    Biodome de Montreal, any good?

Most of what I would recommend is listed in this article, Mish:

If you like outdoor stuff, you might also take a day trip to Tremblant (a ski resort but w/biking in summer, I think). I've spent most time around McGill. Clubs are around St. Catherines St. (but I'm going back decades now, so you'll have to ask what's new & hot). Yes, there is a huge underground shopping 'centre' it goes on for blocks.

    Have fun!

Yo Mish tell me when you're gonna be in Niagara Falls!!! They have lots of tacky arcades and stuff if you like DDR or ITG, and of course lots of bars and casinos. Check out the whirlpool also

Oh and BTW, Buffalo is about 10 minutes from Niagara Falls. I HIGHLY suggest going there and getting some chicken wings at a nonchain pizza place. If you're in Niagara Falls for a weekend in late August, you might wanna buy some tickets to a Buffalo Bills game and see some American football as well

BTW, Mish I checked about health insurance. Just an FYI, Canada & OZ do NOT have reciprocal health insurance agreements (weird considering we are both Commonwealth Ntns.). So you'll need travel insurance for your visit unless your current work plan covers out of country travel.

Yup, I got travel insurance covered already thanks Indi

DM, my brother won't let me out of Canada, he hasn't seen me for more than a decade. But you're welcome to come to Montreal and meet up with me and another ex LF member who lives there.

A bit of an update for those who are interested

It's just over a week since we arrived to Montreal. It's a beautiful city, with European city planning (at least in the area where we are staying) and beuatiful food. The french is everywhere and it somehow doesn't seem to bother me as much as I thought it would. It adds certain flavour and makes the experience of being here more exotic.

We did Niagra falls over the last weekend. Saw it from every angle, from the boat, from below, left, right, at incline, at night, during fire works. It's so beautiful. No matter how much you look at it you never stop being amazed by this giant mass of water coming from what it seems out of nowhere.

Starting to explore more and more around the city, I think this week I'll dedicate just to Montreal.

Hope you liked Niagara Falls, that is my neck of the woods

Did you go to the US side of the falls? If so, you better have stopped at Buffalo at least for some chicken wings

We walked on the bridge from Canada to US, but that was about all we had time for. We still haven't seen a lot of things we wanted to see, like the whirlpool. One weekend at Niagra really wasn't enough. I wanted to go to US side, I think (time permitting) I'll come back
