Clingy or really just that in love?

Today, I tried to hold a conversation with my girlfriend about her being overbearing, and she became very defensive. I admitted to her that I might not be as affectionate as I should be but, that we should try to find common ground but, now she is not talking to me, because; 'I don't want her love.' We are both young but, I feel she is not as mature as myself in relationships, and the reality of day to day life. I know she is very self-conscious, which leads to her "clinginess" and jealousy. I feel I have waited too long to talk to her because I'm now at the breaking point, if her and I cannot find common ground but, could she be that much in love to wanna show that amount of affection to which, I'm clearly in the wrong?

She's being irrational and immature. She doesn't sound like she's anywhere near ready to be on the same page with you and work toward a common goal. She's only going to continue to be a headache at this rate.
