I sold my World of Warcraft account. I am too old for it and its a drain on time that I could spend doing school work, socializing or generally being productive.
Now here's the kicker, I sold it for $1000. I can't say I got nothing out of it, lmao.

Sold mine for $1900, 70 Draenei gladiator shaman & 70 Orc gladiator Shaman. In your face.
But yeah, good move.

Is it enough to make up for the amount of money you've already invested in it?
Money, yes. Time, no. I played the game for 9 months total, spread over 3 years (many breaks). So I paid in the vicinity of $250 for it. But the $1900 is not a worthy 'per-hour' return on my investment, you don't even earn minimum wage on your trade.

Yeah I should have dumped mine when accounts were hot before the last expansion, but I didn't.
Glad was a joke, 0 to 2650 in three nights in the last week of the season just to see if we could do it.
I could have milked it for more because I was geared to the teeth with the best available stuff, but I just wanted it gone.
I mailed out the disks this morning, its all gone and not soon enough.
Fras, you can never get it all back like MVP said. Blizzard created a monster and they know it. I have played lots of video games, nothing has ever had as much pull as WoW. Its worse than drugs for the some people, and I mean that in a completely literal way.

I have never touched it.
Watched 3 of my best friends disappear because of it.
They've slowly waned off it.
My highest rating was 2550 in 5's on BG9. Which was good enough for #1 at the time. But yeah, WoW is hugely addictive. I played the game because several of my old friends were in colleges in Arizona, Texas, NY, SoCal, so we did it to stay in touch. Two of us ended up being really good at it and got addicted, so I would periodically 'quit' the game and rejoin a few months later. Then quit, then rejoin. It was a giant waste of time. Only MMO I ever played, or ever will play.

I never saw what people liked so much about that game. I even tried it out once. I think it *sucks*.
Went for it a few years back, was a good time-killer back when nothing much was happening, but happy that I left it behind and wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole nowadays.
Most amusing thing though is that people often play it to compensate for a dull or bad situation in real life, and just contribute to making it even worse rather than growing some cojones.
That and how they fall or the blatantly obvious time-sinks introduced to it, which is a disgrace given the revenue it's getting.
