Wife wants new ring for upcoming 10 year Anniversary

I know may not seem like a biggie. She came home today with ideas of getting a new ring for our soon upcoming anniversary. The rings she is interested in are around 7000-8000$. I know I can afford financially but it just bugs me the thought of having to replace the engagement ring I picked out for her when I proposed. To me it means more than just the cost it is the meaning attached to it. I explained to her how I was feeling and why don't we take a nice trip or something. She just retaliated with "why are you making me feel like I'm a bad person." Now we are just avoiding each other for most of the day. I did try to talk to her but she seems stand offish. It's not like we had a huge blow out...I'm just feeling like blah and somewhat surprised she is behaving like this. Anyway any feedback thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly

I would much prefer a vacation together over another ring but I guess your wife is different. now shes pouting about it? sounds like a snob.

As money isn't the issue, why not suggest an eternity ring? An eternity ring is worn with the engagement and wedding set. Truth be told, I've never heard of replacing an engagement ring.

Out of curiosity, what exactly did you say before she said you made her feel like a bad person? Did you tell her she was stupid or selfish....or is she a drama queen when you disagree?
Never regret anything that has happened in your life. It cannot be changed, forgotten or undone. So, take it as a lesson learned and move on.

Would an acceptable compromise be, buying the ring. But not as a replacement to the engagement ring. Having it be in addition to the engagement ring.

Wish I could afford to blow that kind of money on a small piece of metal. Your wife sounds like a spoiled bitch.

If that is what makes her happy and you can afford it, then why not. You might prefer a vacation instead but she might not want that. I agree with LCM. Maybe instead of replacing it, why not have it as an addition.
A strong woman takes advantage of help she can get from people around her but she doesn't rely on them for anything

She uses logic and manages her emotions

She offers help either because it is a business transaction or out of kindness. It is never because she hopes others will return the favour or out of fear of losing them

She has her own mind and thinks for herself and knows that she has to be the one who bears the consequences of her decisions

Happy wife, happy life. If you can afford it, even if it IS silly, then why not? You can't take it with you...
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Yes she was pouting...I was kind of shocked...Yes I could afford the ring but a vacation I think where we could share together would be ideal.

I said " It bugs me that you feel the need to replace the ring that I proposed to you with" .... her response was why are you making me feel like a pad person.

I know lots of people take the engagement ring and incorporate it into a customized ring so you have the best of both worlds.

I could pull it off but could not afford a vacation or another big purchase for a while.

Jeez, there are people homeless, starving on this planet whilst some are getting all pouty because they want another shiny bauble. Somewhere our values are going down the toilet.

Very valid point...I may seem like I'm leaning towards believing my wife is being selfish but I think there is value in this point. Sure I can't take it to the grave with me but commercialism has killed society. Some days I just feel like getting rid of all my toys etc and living on an island. The only materialistic thing I would care to keep would be my bike and running shoes but they are things that I can put to good use.
