Of course it's illegal. There is also an open container law, so you can't have an open alcohol container in the car. I'm not sure if that's everywhere or what.

We were pulled over by a cop and my boss had a can of hurricane in his coffee cup holder cop said who is drinkin it, he goes that he was and thats all he had. cop told him to stick a piece of stick like toothpick in his mouth that the cop gave him. then 2 minutes later he asked it back and looked at it with a searchlight and then told him to not drink anymore and drive safe and left.
