Is this place too intimate for a 2nd date?

Hi,

I'm soon going out on the second date with this girl. We're going to eat at a restaurant, but the place haven't been decided yet. I thought about a really good thai-restaurant, which besides the nice food, has some alcoves for making it more romantic and intimate - they're a bit separated from normal tables. I'm just very much in doubt, that if this is way too much on a second date, thought we had a great time on the first. I just don't wanna send a wrong signal, if you know what I mean?! So is this a good idea or a bad one?

Also, should I ask her about if she likes the idea with the alcoves or just make it a surprise, if it's not too intimate?

I wouldn't find it to be too intimate, it gives you the opportunity to get a little closer in conversation without the worry of anyone over hearing you.

I wouldn't surprise her, take her and ask her how she feels about the alcoves once there ;D

Make sure she likes thai food beforehand. I think its a good idea taking her to a romantic place to make it obvious youre not looking to go in the friend zone.
If it was me personally though i would feel very uncomfortable being in a romantic place with a guy i barely know and foods im not used too. Id rather go to a steakhouse or The RAM

Well, absolutely make sure she likes Thai- but once you're there let her pick, I say. If she doesn't, you don't want to do something overly common because you do risk falling into the friendzone.

If all else fails take her to the beach at night. Eat in the car though, sand in your food isn't yummy.
