Women: Are you afraid of dating a Police Officer?

    Straight to the point:

I'm a city cop. I've taken quite a few women out. Just trying to find my diamond in the rough. I always seem to get the "oh.... your a cop" garbage. I'm 24 and mingling with the same age group. What's the deal? Is my occupation that much of a red flag?

I have the upmost respect for women. I was raised well by my old man. I'm morally sound. I have to be for my duties.

Ladies: Is being an officer unattractive? Is it a burden? What's the deal? I hate to talk highly of myself but I'm a ladies man. I work hard on my appearance, and I'm all about respect for the women. Most of my dept are literally all married.

    Seriously... hahah what gives?

Thanks in advance for the input.

Your not a cop in ct right? Stereotypes suck and almost everybody who isn't a cop normally think cops are pricks. Just gotta work a little harder to prove your not. Where you meet women too plays a huge part too. A women at a bar who drinks frequently is gonna be more hesitant to date a cop because she could get in trouble. Getting loaded then going out with a cop doesn't actually seem like a good idea ya know.

I deal with a lot of law enforcement personnel in the hospital, and while most are very decent, every now and then, I run across one that scares me more than the inmate patients. So I guess if I were asked out by a cop, I would have to tread very carefully.

Also, I am sure you know that cops have a higher than average divorce rate and lots have issues with ETOH. Objectively speaking, that is reason enough to be cautious.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

The only cop i actually 'know', was such a good husband, an amazing father. I always thought very highly of him, and i liked his morals and his authority didnt make him a prick.

Saying that, cops generally have a stereotype of being a**holes on power trips. Im sure this isnt the case, but it seems to be the case sometimes, with some cops. I am sure it does have a lot to do with what type of women you are meeting and where you are meeting them. Your career type shouldnt be an issue with someone who likes you, so i wouldnt worry about it too much. If i like someone, it wouldnt matter if they were a cop or a garbage man. I wouldnt care.
When you find one worth your time, their wont be any hesitation upon hearing you are a police officer.

Try dating a woman who is in her late 20s and see if that helps. I think most women would be intimidated by the idea that their boyfriend's life is on the line every time he goes to work.

I try to stay away from bars and clubs in my city unless I'm out on the town on a weekend with a few guys from my shift for a dudes night. There are definately some hard skinned fellas out there that are LEO's. A huge percentage of those that may scare you or intimidate you more than usual are prior military. I promise you that. I give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Nobody should be treated unfairly, like dirt, or treated like they are under you.

Sure authority is there with an LEO. But every officer must remember that everyone is a human being. Everyone makes mistakes. Nobody is perfect. I make mistakes every day on the job. Thankfully none that hs cost my life or anyone elses.

One time I was curious. It was my lunch hour and I had been talking to this woman on a regular basis. I called and asked if she wanted to go out for a quick lunch. She had no idea I was an LEO at this point. All I told her was that I was in the public safety field of work. I actually ended up suprising her with a nice little picnic at the park near her place of residence (which was right down the street) and I asked her if it was okay if I could meet her there.

I pulled up, full uniform, patrol vehicle and all. Got out and had a great lunch with her.

After that I she was very very distant. Time passed and I never heard from her again until a friend of mine stopped and ticketed her for using a handheld mobile device while operating a motor vehicle. Lol.

    But yeh. No luck here

I wouldn't have a problem dating police officer chicks, except for the fact that I like to smoke pot and wouldn't want to "cramp her style".
