WikiLeaks has released a classified US military video depicting the indiscriminate slaying of over a dozen people in the Iraqi suburb of New Baghdad -- including two Reuters news staff. Reuters has been trying to obtain the video through the Freedom of Information Act, without success since the time of the attack. The video, shot from an Apache helicopter gun-site, clearly shows the unprovoked slaying of a wounded Reuters employee and his rescuers. Two young children involved in the rescue were also seriously wounded.

I understand people's upset and disgust over this, but []this is war[/U].

It's not pretty, it's not fair and it's unpredictable. If you walk in a war zone, you run the risk of being killed. They weren't shot in cold blood, they looked like a group of militants, granted they were just cameras.

As a reporter in a war zone, I would make sure that I made my whereabouts known to avoid any mix-ups like you see here. Walking with a dark object slung over your shoulder with a group of Arab's in a hot zone is not the best of ideas no matter what you believe.

Sad none the less, but such is war.

It's amazing the lengths to which the human mind will rationalize it's own Nation State's depravity. ^^^

(until the choppers are police, the city American, and the victims in the wrong place at the wrong time....because, hey.. this is a war. People get killed. It's a hot zone... they were carrying bags over their shoulders. They looked like drug dealers. They shouldn't leave their houses if they don't want to be shot up. Their fault.)

The video doesn't show clearly anything, but it seems what they were carrying was just a camera and that thing they put on them to zoom.

Thanks. The video was 40 minutes long, and I only watched 20. (the short version wouldn't upload.) They DID look like weapons.

I wish people in a war zone would leave their kids at home.

I agree that in a couple of minutes they look like weapons, but they can also look like lots of things with a bit of imagination... soldiers should double check before killing.

And about leaving the kids at home.. if a war starts and your neighborhood becomes a warzone, you may have no option but to take the kids to that warzone.
