Have you guys ever seen or heard about that? I received it in an email tonight, and I laughed and said thank God i cut my hair LOL just kidding. But really though, thats really scary. Just when I thought I knew all the ways to contract atds...now you can conntract them from putting a hair band in your mouth.

But, at a quick scan, it doesn't say that *used* condoms are being used, just rejected or inferior ones. I suppose that latex is latex, as far as other uses go.

On the other hand, with the milk & formula scares, China has some weird stuff going on right now. So who knows?

In the latest example of potentially harmful Chinese-made products, rubber hair bands have been found in local markets and beauty salons in Dongguan and Guangzhou cities in southern Guangdongprovince , China Daily newspaper said.

'These cheap and colourful rubber bands and hair ties sell well .. threatening the health of local people,' it said.

Despite being recycled, the hair bands could still contain bacteria and viruses, it said.

'People could be infected with AIDS, (genital) warts or other diseases if they hold the rubber bands or strings in their mouths while waving their hair into plaits or buns,' the paper quoted a local dermatologist who gave only his surname, Dong, as saying. A bag of ten of the recycled bands sells for just 25 s en (three cents), much cheaper than others on the market, accounting for their popularity, the paper said.

A government official was quoted as saying recycling condoms was illegal.

In response, it launched a public relations blitz this summer aimed at playing up efforts to strengthen monitoring systems.

I can't seem to grab the actual text from the Snopes site, but it clearly states that its *unclear* if *used* condoms are being used.

But, like I said, China has some weird stuff going on.

Huh? Well I wouldn't place much trust in this considering you can't contract HIV which then leads to AIDS in this method.
