Charity Foundations

Just wanted to find out if anyone knows or is a participating member of a good charity foundation that actually makes a difference? Anyone know anything about Oxfam (http://www.oxfam.org/) and how effective they are for example?

My current favorite charity is 826...

"Well, then," the Cat went on, "you see a dog growls when it's angry, and wags its tail when it's pleased. Now I growl when I'm pleased, and wag my tail when I'm angry. Therefore I'm mad."

Good ol' Salvos and St Vinnies make a difference. They do a lot of good work in the community.

I would be interested to hear about Oxfam though.

I just signed up with Red Cross for regular donations. I read up on work they do and I think it's worth supporting.

I hate large corporate non profits.

I refuse to donate any money to them, it all goes to overhead.
