so they're coming next week and i have a few issues

so i haven't seen my S.O since i left for summer break.

today, i went shopping and he tagged along. he took me for lunch and a walk in the park and it was all rather sweet.

i came home (slightly late) and my mum had a fit, yelling about how i went to see him.

she was having a complete tantrum giving me dirty looks, getting in my way, yelling.

what the hek? so i told her i didn't see him, i went shopping, which i did, hence the bags.

whats with the freeking out? she knows how i feel about him now, and they're coming round next week (him and his mum).

aaaand i don't know whether i should get a manicure..because in our culture having a manicure means that you can't pray..but i do pray but i just wana look nice..but i don't want her to think i don't pray.
    Gee..I thought I saw a pussycat. ~PCD

Don't lie to your parents. You have a lot of living to do--don't screw it up over a guy.

Yes, they're probably being unreasonable. Sit down and discuss THAT instead of lying.

Yes, in most families, it's better to be honest. In my family, however, everyone has been taught through generations that lying is better than offending. My grandparents, my parents, and aunts and uncles all taught the children to do that. So in certain cases, it's actually safer and better to lie. I tried telling the truth before and it just caused a huge period of drama, awkwardness, anger, and resentment for months within the family. It has left a permanent scar even until today. Some people will not change their culture, just like how many people will not change their religion.

Think about your intentions and how to get them across the best way.

I'd skip the manicure just this once. Everything's already rough enough at your house.

Can't you get a manicure without polish?

PS - she is probably worried you are having sex (or will be soon).

Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

If your mum is freaking from just the thought of you seeing him, how is him and his mum coming over next week going to work out?

You should decide in advance how you will both handle your mother if she begins freaking out when she meets him. I suggest you both remain emotionally detached.
