How can I make my girlfriend stop thinking she's pregnant?

My girlfriend is always concerned she's pregnant. It's been going on for months now, ever since we've started having sex months ago, she's constantly worried about it. We are safe when it comes to sex. She's on the pill and then we use a spermicide on top of that (a thin film that dissolves). Now, I'm not stupid, she can still get pregnant, but the chances of that actually happening are pretty damn slim. Although not the best indicator, she has had her period every single month. So, how do I help her stop worrying about being pregnant? It's starting to put a damper in our sex life and our relationship as a whole. Thanks for the advice.

Start using condoms as well, this will reduce the chance of her getting pregnant to almost nothing. If she's still worried after that then there's something she's not saying.

Thanks for the completely obvious answer, misombra. I was hoping for another solution. Neither of us want to stop having sex.

She's a very worrysome person in general, so I wouldn't be surprised if she was still worried after starting to use condoms. One problem with condoms is that I'm allergic to latex. Yes, I know there are non-latex condoms, but not something I really want to look into. I was looking for more of a way emotionally, not physically. Thanks anyway though.

Maybe have her read through her Pill literature and show her the statistics. And if she ever takes antibiotics make sure you are using condoms as well. I've known several girls getting pregnant while on antibiotics. That or just have oral sex or put the weiner on lock down.

Eh, most I think. Doctors generally warn that you use a back up method of birth control when they prescribe them as will the pharmacy and it'll be on the medicine instructions. For whatever reason they cancel out the Pill.

Rifampin (used to treat TB) is the only one I know of with the proven side effect of decreased effectiveness of birth control pills.

Just wear a condom... unless you are trying to knock a girl up, you should be wearing one anyway, but really, the whole antibiotic angle is overplayed..

    Found this article...

    Drugs to Avoid
Although there are varying degrees to which antibiotics may affect hormonal birth control, there are certain drugs which doctors say can cause decreased effectiveness. Medications (antibiotic and otherwise) that are commonly listed as interfering include:

    Rifampin
    Penicillin
    Amoxicillin
    Sulfonamide
    Ampicillin
    Cotrimoxazole
    Tetracycline
    Griseofulvin
    Minocycline
    Phenobarbitol
    Metronidazole
    Nitrofurantoin

This is from the article you posted, Queen.

"according to the Mayo Clinic, a leading healthcare facility, no large, long-range studies have proven antibiotics to cause major interference with the pill. Only one antibiotic, rifampin, has shown to definitively cause loss of effectiveness. "

Not to make light of your issues, LoveandLaughter, but it's actually not a bad thing that your girlfriend is overly worried. There are too many people who don't worry enough about the consequences of sex.

If she isn't convinced by the statistics of the pill and you won't wear a lambskin condom, then the problem is in her mind and I'm not sure there is much that you can do. You could suggest that she consult planned parenthood or a medical professional. If she heard some answers from an expert on the effectiveness of birth control and spermicide, maybe she will feel a bit more secure.

Fu*k her ass and mouth and eat the pussy until you're ready to have kids together. That should ease her anxiety.

I suppose you're right starbuck. I've calculated the so called risk for us and it comes out to be .011% or about 1 in 10000 that she might get pregnant. I told and showed her that number numerous times, but still nothing. You're right though starbuck, there could definitely be worse things. It's just that whenever she gets a stomach ache or something to that affect she freaks out (like she did today). Thanks for the advice.
