Is the word "love" meaningless to some people??

I dated this girl for a few months and she said she loved me a couple of different times and I said it back to her. After the second time she said it she started to become distant and eventually disappeared. She came back after a few weeks and wanted to see me again. I asked her what happened to her and she said she goes hot and cold because she's been dumped before and doesn't want to go through that again. She was married a couple of years ago and her husband cheated on her shotrly after they were married. We saw each other a few more times and she started to become distant again. Now I'm not sure if I'll ever see her again...strange.

I feel like I'm moving on but it got me thinking about when people say I love you to each other. I've only said it to 3 people in my lifetime and I'm in my thirties. It's a big deal when I say it to someone and can't imagine just disappearing. Do you think some people don't vaule those words as much as others?

People say love just to say it. It has absolutely no meaning these days. It's just what you say when you've been dating a person for a month or two. Nothing special about it at all.

I think a lot of people are pretty frivolous with their words, especially THOSE words.

Sounds to me like she has insecurity issues she has to take care of first.

Seems like on one hand she wants to be with someone, on the other hand she's scared being hurt again.

This may take a while for her.

    Wait and see what happens.

Saying "I love you" has little meaning. Look for action. I wonder what is she doing and thinking while away for weeks.

Haha, you got me. Well, if the guy said that he may find out he is not loved or maybe she doesn't care to do those things whether she loves someone or not. She loves herself before she like him enough to do those things. Love is the knowing when to not take action too. Yeah that's it. Damn it! I don’t believe in saying I love you or doing certain things because you love them so I’ll retract my comments from my previous post.

I'm just being an ass. I know what you mean and you're entirely correct. Too bad nobody else seems to get it.
