    Wohoo! Acne Surgery In Nj!

So excited! My mother gave me a clipping of a newspaper that announced that Hackensack Medical Center (fairly close to my house) is now performing laser surgery to get rid of acne and help fix the scarring! I've got some phone calls to make tomorrow! (can't afford it yet, but I wanna get 'the skinny' on it nonetheless. How much is it? Do they charge per body part - face, neck, back, chest - or is it a grand total for the whole thing? How long does it take? Can they send me more information? Etc.)

Woohoo! Just wanted to announce that I'm excited! Since I've been to probably over ten doctors, and tried almost EVERY prescription acne medicine on the market (many several times and none of the worked), this IS the last resort and now it's right next door!

I just called. Unfortunately they won't give me an estimate over the phone. I'd have to sign up for a consultation. And the consultation fee is $200 (although that money DOES apply towards the treatment should I decide to get it). That's pretty steep.

When I was checking out acne surgery treatments on the web months ago the general pricing was around $1500 for your entire upper torso, or you could (for some places) pay by area you want cleared. For instance if you only needed to clear up your face it'd be 500, your back would be 200 (since it tends to be very fatty and less contoured), chest maybe 300, etc. etc.

Hopefully that'll give you some rough guidelines to start out with. I would say it'll be between 1300 and 1700 depending on physician, where you live, etc (NJ tends to be a little on the expensive side so it might be less somewhere else). And unfortunately, insurance won't cover it (it's considered 'cosmetic'. Which is BS since it actually can and often DOES inhibit certain aspects of my life which SHOULD make it covered.)
