A preface: I met him seven years ago. He had never had a girlfriend before and he was 28. His first kiss at 22 was from a hooker he had to pay to kiss him. I took pity on him and fell in love with him. After seven years he left me. Divorce forthcoming.
MY poem has no name. Maybe you can suggest some.
Cold blood runs through my veins,
In the heat of a muggy summer night,
After a thunderstorm.
making love on a cliff above the ocean,
strikes of lightning over the expanse of darkness.
Memories of a love that never was
My mind played tricks on me
Your eyes lied to me.
The love I saw was only pity
Pity for someone who took pity on you
fell in love with you.
You were a lost soul in a sea of lonliness.
I dove in and dragged you into the light of love.
I risked my life to save yours.
Then you threw me back in
Into the nothingness of lonliness from which I saved you.
