An online dating section(split from the forum)?

    Hi guys,

Our forum is growing with lot of members everyday. I wonder will it be feasible to setup our own mini free dating section? I have the system ready but wonder it will work out ...

    That's a good idea.

I wonder how many people would hook up on here. It's not an every day thing and most people are still weirded out by online dating (actually, even I am, usually)

i'd say it would work, a lot of people come on here because they have relationship problems with their partner or broke up. they will be looking for distractions. it would work because they are likely to be desperate to improve their situation. online dating is not that weird, millions do it every day

I'd like to register my opposition to the move.

I am also opposed. My opinion of the people who frequent free dating sites is not high.

I have a few problems with it.

    weirdos, porn adds, porn/sex spam
    trivialisation of the board
awkwardness between members should something happen

    to name a few.

I may be completely wrong, but I haven't got really good associations with dating sites, and making this forum a part of such thing doesn't seem like a wise move

You say "split" from the forum.

Now while I express the same sentiment as those opposed above. I would feel as though separate registrations and log ins may deter some spammers...maybe, but we would definitely need to expand the moderator army.

You guys are so fickle; jokingly flirting around with each other, but not willing loveforum to turn into a MMOO (Massive Multiparty Online Orgy)?

But yes, now that I think of it, that's exactly what would happen; this would turn into a dating site over time, and the forum would just be a small part of that. It defeats the purpose. Come on, do we need another dating site on the internet anyway?

No, we don't need another dating site. I prefer the flirtatiousness and sexual innuendos that get tossed around here....because nobody takes them seriously. Last thing I need is to casually mention that a poster is cute, and then have an inbox full of messages asking to hook up or something. Nuh-uh.

Although I 'd like to - yet again - debunk the myth that dating sites are scary or full or weirdos. I met my fiance there, and he's awesome. Far better than the dipshits I meet in my day to day life.

You take things said on here too serious, like your other post about how the forum started...lighten up.

I'm opposed to the dating site. From my one experience with going on a date with someone I met online, it turned out WEIRD. Never doing that again, lol. Plus I think it would only bring in spam and other weird crap.

Wow, you thought I was serious? Dude, just ****ing stop. Are you shitting me?

On a more serious note, I actually met a very lovely woman on the internet. She is one of the kindest, most original, most understanding people I've ever met, online and offline. Of course, online dating is weird because it's new, not so stable, and, well, it's just the ****ing internet. But people do fall in love over the internet, sometimes it's very successful. I mean, I thought I'd never date anyone I met on the internet, and here I am, giving it a shot. I do agree with bluesummer, and like I said, adding a dating part here will absolutely make the forum part extinct. Completely understandable why some of you oppose the idea so much
