How do you build a relationship.

I like a girl . She is a good friend of mine and she is older than me . As far as i know she has no feelings for me as such but i think she would make a fine partner ( i have thought like that a lot of times in the past with different girls) . I would like to improve my relationship and see how things work out . But i have no clue as to "How to improve on the relationship". Also there is this big question "If u can make a girl like you or should it happen naturally".

Any advice or suggestion would be seriously appreciated

It wouldn't have been a bad idea had i been in the west , but back home in India it ain't easy to get someone drunk

in all seriousness, just ask her out for a few drinks/ coffees and see what happens. if you feel a spark invite her over to yours to watch a movie and again, see where that goes. if she starts making up loads of excuses from day one save yourself the heartache and leave it.

in my opinion you should also go out with other female friends. leave possibilities open. go out with those that interest you most, but don't ignore the others, go out with them from time to time.
if you don't get the big fish, you at least can get two or three of the smaller ones.
it's a tactic that works here on Europe and the West rocks man! I don't know how things work in India, but what the hell make it work.
America is not a good example on this (and many things), here in Europe people have much more gray matter.
