Yes. LF gets a couple cents every time you click on an ad. It's kinda immoral to just click on them for money, though.

He's been trying a few things to sneak a few more ads in here and there. Yeah, they are sort of annoying. But if you had to pay for the monthly/yearly hosting and domain registration or whatever for the amount of traffic and bandwidth that this site probably costs, and you got absolutely nothing out of it, you would probably want to stick a couple ads here and there too if it helped a little.

That's the worst part about these forums....they are always nice when they are ad free...but if you get a lot of traffic and want all the bells and whistles, you can either pay for it yourself or ask your members for donations.

LV hasn't ever asked for donations though, which is really rare for a site that has been around as long as this one. He should just pop a Paypal up there and see what happens
