If someone could tell me how to say, "I think you are very pretty" in french, I would be forever in their debt.

Je pense que vous êtes très joli
"Oh Lord it's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way. I can't wait to look in the mirror, cause I get better loking each day. To know me is to love me, I must be a hell of a man. Oh Lord it's hard to be humble, but I'm doing the best that I can." Mac Davis
Ok, I need to change it just a little. How would you say/pronounce,
"You look beautiful tonight"

Vous semblez beau ce soir

qu'est-ce que vous dites?
"Ogres are like onions."
Wow. 6 years of French and I know nothing.
Yo! what's that supposed to mean?Originally Posted by TAVS

(IF I spoke French....I would have told him that line from that Patti LaBelle song...Lady Marmalade....you know the line I mean... ...that would have been waaaaaaay funnier!)
lol don't feel bad, I had to take Spanish every year in school since Kindergarten (12 years of Spanish) and I can barely speak it
Ok despite my best efforts I cannot figure out how to pronounce that phonectically. I am pretty sure I can get the first part fine, but the last part is messing with me. Anyone care to right out the phrase how it would be said?

Ok I have been told "Voo semblay bow say swah" Is the correct way to say it, can anyone confirm that?

i speak perfect french , btw when you speak french , try not to sound french from france . i grew up in montreal , 1/3 ppl speak english or both here .
so is it for a man or for a woman , this can really change the sentence , also more info .
you could just say
t'est belle or t'est beau (if its a male) .
or... je te trouve magnifique .
or...tu est une vrai beaute .(dont forget that french has accents on the letter E ...3 to be precise ....so theres 5 ways to say the letter E)
Vous semblez beau ce soir = voo sawmblay boh se swah
voulez-vous couche avec moi ce soir = voolay-voo coochay av-eh-c mwah se swah
approximately.
Edit: yeah what you were told was right.
horrible , is this for a male , because if its not your saying that hes handsome and not that shes beautifulOriginally Posted by Ratfish256
its " vous semblez belle ce soir " for female
"vous etes beau ce soir " for male
also 'semblez' means you "seem" ... i dont think that you wan them to think that only that day they "seem" nice .
