    Something All Women Should Read

Not that I've ever been a huge fan of Dr. Laura Schlessinger, but I just read a book of hers that was dead-spot-f*cking-on about women and how they react in relationships. It's called

The Ten Stupid Things Women Do to Mess Up Their Lives

I've lent it to a few friends now, because I found it so inspirational. In a nutshell, it says stop being a whiny overemotional man-dependent bag of hormones that is obsessed with love, marriage and babies. Oh, and get some bloody goals of your own.

Just thought I'd suggest it. There are some women out there that need it.

Oh-Em-Gee, I read this book and it like, changed my life for sure.

If you're highly hormonal, money grabbing and well, just an all-round scrubbing whore of a woman, this book is for you.

HAH! You know, I was going to make a post that probably would have been the exact same thing, except for "omg" instead of "Oh-Em-Gee."

Anyhow, yeah, that book sounds like somebody just took women's daily habits:

    1) Bitching.
    2) Bitching.
    3) Bitching.
    4) Bitching.
    5) Bitching.
    6) Bitching.
    7) Bitching.
    8) Bitching.
    9) Bitching.
    10) Just guess. That's right. Bitching.

Because after all, it's not like they don't enjoy having the most ****ed up lives anybody could possibly dream of.

With bullshit like cheerleading and porn going on, is it any wonder men don't respect women as much as we respect men? I don't hate women...I just accept that I'm superior.

Even though I agree with some (but certainly not all) of her advice, on a personal level, I can't stand Dr. Laura. I believe she hates women. Funny you should say her book advocates not being obsessed w/ love, marriage and babies since that is all she seems to promote on the radio.

Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

But making babies is all women are good for. And cooking. And doing laundry. But mostly just making babies.

Yeah, I know Vash, normally I'm not a fan of hers either. I don't believe she's a woman-hater though. I can see where some women might think that, I think she just challenges them to look outside the box of 'traditional roles' and that freaks some of them out. (At least that what she does in the book, not sure about her day-to-day views)

She can't be all bad, I've taken some very good things out of it......I'm not the type who just reads a book and then spits it back out verbatim. But I have grown tired of listening to myself, and other women, bitch about how 'men' have ruined their lives. Its all childish finger pointing. You may not always put yourself in a situation, but its your own fault if you don't get yourself out.

I agree with you, blue, but Dr. Laura wouldn't (at least not on radio). She tends to be a "you made your bed, now lay in it" type with regards to relationships if the women are complaining about their men, but if a man is complaining, the woman needs to straighten up. So long as men aren't beating you or drug addicted, women are supposed to tolerate pretty much everything, or at least that is the impression I am given when I hear her.

In truth, I do think women DO bitch too much, but I think men contribute to bad relationships, too. There are just as many stupid men out there as there are stupid women.

Plenty of proof of that all over LF. Lots of male doormats here.

I am glad that Dr. Laura (and she's a doctor of what, exactly?) is promoting the idea of women being responsible for their own happiness. Anyone who supports the concept of anyone taking an active role in their own life is doing us all a favor.

Most of her listenership can be described as "Mrs. Flanders", right? (You know, Ned Flanders' wife on the Simpsons, who took a weekend seminar with her church group on how to be more judgemental.) The idea that those women are being sent the message that they should be teaching their daughters to invest in themselves is wonderful. Even if it comes from Dr. Bullshit.
