i'm a HS frosh

-the first time we talked he broke up with his gf right afterwards, and basically told me that he only went out with her because he felt bad for her
-he looks at me a lot and averts his eyes when i see him and all that jazz
-whenever i say something along the lines of "i like that your hair like that " he would wear his hair like that very often =)
-he would laugh at my stupid jokes that nobody else would laugh at or cared about
-he always finds me in a crowd/sits next to me in a car etc.
-he seems kinda nervous when we talk alone
-hes really shy

but!!

-whenever i call him he says he's always busy or something and never wants to talk
-whenever he realizes that we're both going to the same social event he cancels
-if i ask him a sudden question, like if i turn to him suddenly and ask him something, he would say something mean like "how should i kno?"

He isn't over his ex and told you he went out with her out of pity because he's hiding behind a wall.

Your good signs are all hopeful, your bad signs are reality, he's confused, and needs to sort his feelings out.

A: pursue him and be blunt, and you may get him to be yours, that is, until he dumps you because he's so confused.
B: tell him to figure his life out.
