This is so much subjective. What might seem polite and gentle to you, other women might find not gentle and polite enough, and some other one might fight it mushy and soft. It's all so subjective.

Try facebook more. I met a lot of women thanks to my interests in different areas: TV shows, websites I like and unknown artists.
Try other dating sites. Just put yourself out there if you are not that outgoing. Plenty of good men and women are on those websites.

And don't be afraid to make the first move. You have no idea how many guys respect women that show their interest in them.

On your profile, don't list the things you require from a guy like "tall, strong, not a creeper" and definitely don't say "am i asking too much?" or "just think that i am old enough to deserve a good lover".
Instead, tell something interesting about yourself.
