Ugh, the g/f can be so awkward sometimes.

So she has an interview for another job this week and decided to go out and get some business clothes.

She comes back with these black, 4 1/2 inch heels!

    Holy shit!

She doesn't have a single pair of heels in her closet and now she jumps to almost 5 inch heels?!

I keep trying to tell her that they're completely unpractical, and she's not exactly graceful and the streets and sidewalks (some cobblestone) are horrible for wearing shoes like that. I feel like she's going to break her ankles. She's trying to learn how to walk in them as we speak and I can't help but shake my head. You guys already know I've brought this up before, and if I keep bringing it up she gets upset. But she just sucks when it comes to dressing herself that it makes me want to put my head through the wall. I'm not looking for her to be glamorous. I just don't want her to be embarrassing!

I feel like there's things she just doesn't get, and excessive heels is a perfect example of that.

There's nothing I can do to talk her out of these, is there? Christ it's an interview, what the f*ck do you need 4 1/2 inch heels for?

She has absolutely no fashion sense. None.

She needs a proper female friend to tell her how to dress, she spent far too much time living in the country listening to grunge as a youth. Even her mother's fashion sense is so...homely, big floral pattern dresses and shit.

Is this what I get for getting involved with a girl from Texas?

You should try to gently tell her that 4 1/2 inch high heels are not appropriate attire for almost ANY job, and wearing them to an interview will hurt her chances of getting the job.
Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

Is that true?? I hope so.

I don't know shit about women's fashion, but I feel like I know enough to know that 4 1/2 inch is screaming attention. Which is unprofessional and no good.

She's going to feel like I'm just coming down on her but it's like, f*ck, what else am I supposed to do? Let her make a fool out of herself?

    Let her read this thread.

What kind of job is she interviewing for? If it is some sort of office job, she will want to look conservative. Heels that are 4 1/2 inches high are meant to be SEXY. If she interviews with a woman, that will be bad. If she interviews with a male, he may think she is trying to be flirty.

I might let her read this after I edit some of the insults out. This is my place to vent after all.

I'd like to get some more supportive opinions from more female members, though.

Yes, I took my tape measure and measured them from the top of the heel to the bottom. She'll be standing 4 1/2 inches off the ground.

i say let her try it out. chances are she won't feel comfortable in them and ditch them. i bought some heels when i first got the job i have now thinking it would be more appropriate. they're gathering dust in the bottom of my closet right now.

I just don't want her to embarrass herself.

Some 2-3 inches wouldn't be so bad so long as they weren't flashy or anything, but what she has is way over the top. She's not interviewing for a fashion magazine, it's a non-profit.

Saw two inches off the heels after she goes to bed. Problem solved.

This is why a dog is a man's best friend. If you had a dog he would slobber all over them and chew them up so bad she wouldn't be able to wear them.

    Okay, she's not wearing them.

    Victory!

She is still pretty upset with herself because she knows she has little sense of style. Ah well.
