    Dental

Short of picking up the phone and dialing everyone in the book, does anyone know a good way of finding decent dental coverage?

I am covered by the VA for medical, but their Dental plans suck from what I have heard. I know that dental is expensive, but haven't ever really shopped around for it.

In today's internet and communication society, anyone found a tried and true method of finding affordable dental coverage, or have good and affordable coverage?

    Thanks for any info.

    I'm looking myself; I heard Delta is good, but I used the internet, searched, apllied for info. and ended up getting info. for Delta Care. Apparently not the same as Delta, so I'm back to looking;

Dont use United Concordia, that's who I'm dropping.

I tried to look into Dental once as I go regularly...all I found were discount package plans and other BS

In my own experience, dental insurance pretty much sucks universally. They pay for hardly anything at all.

Cybog~I'm an office manager for a dental practice and deal with insurance everyday. Delta Dental is great, so is Aetna or Cigna. Most coverages allow you a 1000 max to use with a 50 dollar deductible. Be aware of any WAITING PERIODS for major treatments like crowns or bridges. OR MISSING TOOTH CLAUSE. If you have a missing tooth and want to put a bridge there, they wont cover the missing tooth.

I can get you some numbers today when I get into work.

But you can find all of this stuff on the net too.
    Goodluck!
everything happens for a reason...beginning to wonder why.

My dental plan currently consists of this...

    "Are your teeth hurting you?"

    "Yes."

"Alright well you got 48 hours to do somethin' about it or we won't cover it."

I have Delta Dental. If your teeth are healthy (like mine) it is fine, but they only will cover $1500 per year in dental work, so if you need a root canal and the crown that goes with it (like my husband did), that is all it will cover for the whole year. You just have to hope you don't have any more dental emergencies if you have that root canal early in the year.

I guess I don't consider insurance to be great when you have to worry about using up your benefits in a single visit.

That's gross OV. Try scraping a sample of what is living on your teeth and looking at it under a microscope under oil immersion, and trust me, you would go. I wouldn't dream of kissing anyone who doesn't go to the dentist. ::shudders::
