Would you say that its possible to turn friendship into Love?
If yes, then how do you go about it?

See I've been "dating" this girl on and off for a few months now, but I'm quite sure that it's heading the non physical friendship way... and that not the path that had in mind... so.. course corrections needed.

You need to make sure it's known that you have romantic intentions. Keep things physical with hugs, hand holding, kissing, etc... Continue flirting. Don't be her girlfriend. Don't be her emotional tampon. It's alright to be there for her, but don't always be there to talk about her problems. You don't want her wanting to keep you as a friend.

Just start by being more physical. See where that goes.

Oh it's certainly possible... I agree that adding more into the physical may be beneficial as well. But as far as personal opinions go, just make sure you want her in that respect more than you want her as a friend. Because if it goes sour, you might lose both. Be prepared for that.
