Chances That He Will Not Repeat?

A friend (honest!) caught her bf making a pass at another woman. Not flirting, but truly hitting on her. An argument ensued, of course.

What are the chances he learned his lesson and will stay focused? Or, does a guy have to lose a girl or two before figuring out how far is too far?

Depends how serious the guy is . . .some guys will never do it, some guys if caught once will stop, some guys might need a few failed relationships, and some guys never learn.

Judge his behaviour on his previous actions . . . if he repeatedly shows disrespect or breaks trust in some ways then that's his bad habit.

Well guys have tendencies to make passes at other chicks but really? how serious are they?
If they are serious with each other then it sounds like he has no respect anymore and
truly should be reconsidered.
