Head Injuries - Advice for a friend

My friend recently got jumped and was smashed around the back of the head with a large blunt object. The day of the injury, after he got his stitches he felt a bit disorientated. But nowadays his disorientation has gotten really bad. I guess I'm just trying to find out if anyones had this kind of thing before and does it get better before it gets worse? Because at the moment he's feeling pretty ****ed up in the head.

    All comments appreciated.

I have no idea-- can't you ring a doctor or make him see one asap?

Call his doctor ASAP. Because it can be a ton of things that is causing this. As it can be internal bleeding, to a damage nerve to anything really.

Did he get a CAT scan or MRI to check for brain injury? I think you should have him call the doctor immediately. Has your friend been drinking after his injury? Check out this link:

Relax... I'll need some information first. Just the basic facts - can you show me where it hurts?

He did have an X ray and they said everything seemed normal. As for alcohol, yes he has been drinking.

X ray is not as conclusive as either an MRI or CAT scan. I think your friend should lay off the liquor (which impedes normal recovery) and call his doctor if the disorientation is not hangover-related.

He said when he goes to see the doctor, he going to tell him about the sickness, dizziness, disorientation and the depression and see what the doc' can do for him. Hopefully the doctor could maybe prescribe some meds for him and maybe get a scan to make sure everything is going good upstairs.

i don't think the xray would be very helpful because he probably has some damage to his nerves. there are a lot of nerves in the vertebrae, especially in the vertebraes that are closer to the head. i think he should talk to his doctor during this next visit.

as for the liquor..haha i have no idea. it might interfere with his recovery, but hey, i would be drinking too to ease the pain.
