Been awhile since I've been on...ah, no. My home office. Ex-girlfriend and I screwed in every room in the house, to include closets. Also, screwed on the front porch, backyard, the part across the street, and the roof of the house. The roof was the best

    Bump.

I had a long talk last night with a girlfriend of mine about this issue. Rather than tell me to get over it, like I expected her to, she said she thought he needed to prove it to me, prove that this wouldn't eventually result in the demise of our relationship, by acknowledging and changing the behavior.

When I told him I was terrified that his approval-seeking would result in cheating, he said, "That's just you being insecure." as if that were the end of it. He was really surprised when I said, "Yes, it is. I am feeling incredibly insecure about it." For some reason, that seemed to make him soften up a lot.

My ex-husband once told me that I appeared to be impervious. It was possible to piss me off, he said, but not to hurt me.

Boys- is this some kind of Obvious Truth I've been overlooking? Do you think he'll actually listen to me if he sees I'm hurt and scared rather than just mad?

    I don't see why not.

After all, when you're angry, he's most likely feeling defensive, while if you're feeling in some way offended/hurt/scared, he'll feel less defensive and more compelled to "fix" the issue.

Guys like to fix things because it makes them feel wanted and purposeful to their girlies.

I can't speak for all of us, Giga, but in my experience anger results in an angry response.

Seeing my woman hurt and scared because of something I've been careless about results in me feeling like a jackass.

Just to point out something, in a relationship long time ago when I asked a girl this, the relationship ended very shortly afterwards.

I told myself never to ask anyone to prove trust from that point on.

He should listen to you regardless. However, it is easier to listen to someone who is calm and reserved, whose emotions do not distract, rather than someone who is furious and scolding.

Maybe it's his way of manipulating you out of your insecurity? Is he that clever?
