I know this is old, but I dont think anything is carried in saliva. The risk through kissing is if there is some trace of blood like gums bleeding or something like that. Condoms do break and they do protect against most STD's, but Herpes and Genital Warts. I think it was 80% of sexually active people in the U.S. have HPV (genital warts) and it is spread simply by skin to skin contact where a condom does not cover. Sometimes you can't even see if they have warts since they can be invisible to the naked eye and usually the male is just a carrier so they will never show signs of HPV, but can still pass it on to the woman. Just thought I would throw that in there lol.
