The age old question: men with girlfriends and porn : please help

Hey folks. Maybe this has been beaten to death, but here's another perspective.

Ladies who don't like the fact guys like porn: I have a question. Ever owned a cat or a dog that went into heat? Ever been by the monkey cage at the zoo? What happens? "Line up, boys!" That's what happens, isn't it?

The more males mate with the receptive female, the greater the chance for conception, procreation and perpetuating the species. Males respond to the presence of sexual visual stimulus by being turned on themselves. This is hardwired animal instinct in any species that reproduces sexually.

Like humans.

We can't help it. Porn is an automatic On switch for us. This is in our brains at a molecular level, beyond any conscious control. It doesn't mean we've identified the people in porn as even being people, we're just responding to witnessing the sexual act. Ideally, there's no emotional component to it at all. We do it just because it feels good. What, women don't masturbate? Pretty sure they do.

Now, that being said, porn is in no way a substitute for a real-life, honest to goodness female partner. If you're woman with a guy who has half a brain and an ounce of consideration, you'll never see it or hear about it. Any guy who needs to look at porn in order to get *ready* to be with his girlfriend has a serious problem (I'm assuming he's attracted to her, being his girlfriend and all). Any guy who flaunts watching porn, rejects you in favour of jerking off in front of his computer, or deliberately makes sure you know he's watching it and not you as a form of emotional attack is a complete ass who should be dumped immediately. Likewise, if you're a woman who insists on digging through your boyfriend's hard drive or sock drawer on a one-woman mission to eradicate digital boobs from your guy's life then *you* have a problem. And you're fighting a battle you'll never win.

Guys like porn. There's nothing men or women can do about that. Smart guys will make sure their women never see or hear it because they'll only ever look at it when their honeys aren't around to have real live sex with, and smart women will accept that porn is not a threat to them if they have a remotely healthy relationship.

Humans don't go into heat. The reason most animals have a "mating season" is to prevent spreading diseases. That is why they only mate at certain times of the year and most females only mate with one partner at a time. Did you ever think that maybe the reason humans have sex all year round is because we are wired towards monogamy and therefore the spreading of diseases is less likely? Dinosaurs were monogamous. The reason they survived so long is because both the male and the female played an active role in raising their young and protecting them-just like a lot of humans which is why we too have survived for so long on this planet whilst many mammals have gone extinct and many more are in danger of going extinct.

You cannot say that men are "hardwired" to watch porn. Maybe if they have been watching it every day since the age of twelve or thirteen. Then their brain is hardwired for it because their dopamine levels crave it-just like eating fast food or chocolate. Plenty of men live without porn. Before the internet, men hardly ever watched it. Up until 100 years ago, people believed that women couldn't even orgasm-its only since then that porn has boomed because we now know that women are capable of enjoying sex.

Anyway my point is-you cannot say that men NEED porn because up until recent years-it was difficult to even access it and many men-especially the older generation (people in their 80's) have likely never watched it.

I agree with michelle, nobody "needs" porn (apart from porn addicted people, which is an illness, just like any addiction). That said, I do think most guys who have internet access enjoy watching porn, and there's nothing wrong or harmful about it as long as it doesn't interfere with their sex life or any other aspect of their life. They don't need it, they just like it and use it to masturbate.

Monkeys will f uck all day long with multiple partners. And Michelle he meant men and women are genetically hardwired to be stimulated by seeing the sexual act....it's possible during prehistoric times it signaled to the others males in the group it's time to mate along with the release of pheromones, females being in sync. Porn is created because you can just go out and find a sexual act going on...it's accessible through drawings, frescoes, art, photos, flip cards, magazines, movies, videos, and now internet. It's just follows technology...it's always been around, and the desire for it has always been around.

Just like bacon....nobody really needs it, even tho it can affect our health if we eat it excessively, doesn't stop us from enjoying it.

I think michelle and Dinsdale were referring specifically to porn videos and photos of real persons. I like the bacon analogy

I know, but all through the ages there has always been a demand for it, and it will always be a part of our society no matter the arguments.
