Hey, it is temporary and permanent at the same time....I like that for some reason. You are talking about love right?
It is like some sort of everlasting emotion of non-sexual passion for someone that obviously is not permament - in the end at least death ends it if something else hasn't on the way.

I thought this topic was about describing our experiences and views of love?
Be true to yourself, this includes taking a step back and realizing that the best thing isnt always the easiest thing in front of you.

Through my experiences I have learned that learning to love yourself is a very important step before you can fully love another person. By loving yourself, I mean to be completly happy with yourself, comfortable, and continously wanting to grow positively. You can only give what you have, so the more you have the more you can give those you love.

When you love someone, you want to give them as much of you as possible, you want them to grow with you, not only do you meet both your expectations, but they are exceeded by each others want for growth. True love never dies because it is never stops growing, now this doesnt mean that the rate of growth will be constant, because the experiences you share together feed the growth, and the rate of experience is not constant.

Ooo, I don't know if I can separate my heart from my... you know what. Yes, I've experienced love without sex before, but not what you would call True Love, romantic love, the oh, my God, I can't live without you variety.

    All tangled up with sex.

    Hey, I want sex too.

But I'm not gonna get it anytime soon.

So I will settle for general physical intimacy.

Same story, just a few pages before. You'll get there. The end of that story is really good.

That is a little wierd. What if someone is stuck in a loop? for example they can't find love even though they look for it so they begin to hate themself and get a bit depressed.

If you love yourself then you would not have a reason to hate yourself and get depressed from that, I also believe that you would not be searching for love so strong that the absence of it would cause that anguish. Through loving yourself, you are ok with waiting and when you do meet that potential someone you are ready and even if it doesnt work out, you understand there is better than that and move on with life.

like I could swan dive off the top of my apartment and feel fine when I hit the ground...
"So tonight, when you're wondering what to say, or how you look, or whether or not she likes you, just remember, she is already out with you. That means she said yes when she could have said no. That means she made a plan when she could have just blown you off. So that means it is no longer your job to try to make her like you. It is your job not to mess it up."

No no, it happens the other way around. If you get depressed it is hard to love yourself.

That's a pretty ugly cycle you've described, OV. I'll bet it happens all the time.

I'm talking long term here. I'm not saying you will no longer feel sadness altogether, but I am saying the sadness is productive. If you understand that depression is ok to feel if you have a reason, than you can find out how to deal with that reason so you no longer feel depressed. As long as you know things will be better deep down, the short term problems will only help build a better person in the long term.

Read The Art of Happiness. It will explain things.
There are moments when one feels free from one's own identification with human limitations and inadequacies. At such moments one imagines that one stands on some spot of a small planet, gazing in amazement at the cold yet profoundly moving beauty of the eternal, the unfathomable; life and death flow into one, and there is neither evolution nor destiny; only Being. - Albert Einstein

Some how I think love and happiness are seperate...but one can cause the other. I am figuring love causes happiness...not the other way around...so I am a bit confused about what he says.
