The short answer to your question is yes: any children who are starving or otherwise neglected/abused should be taken away from their parents.
I am far less interested in the 'rights' of a meth addict or alcoholic, particularly their 'right' to take our tax dollars and spend them on that crap, than their children's right to grow up in a stable home. I'd be quite fine with laws controlling reproduction until people can prove their parenting ability. Just like a drivers test, but more important.
I am pro legalization of pot. It is possible to use it responsibly, just like alcohol. It would also solve a lot of the gang problems Vancouver is currently having. Noone kills each other over alcohol. Anymore, that is.
Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.
