It's rather disingenuous to suggest people are not being anti-American when they use this term. It is a term of derision / insult much like when people describe Irish people as 'paddy'

You should read up on the whole concept/theory of different "races". It's pretty interesting and according to some schools of thought there are no "races" at all. I am suggesting this to you b/c you are the only one in this thread that has some sense (besides Smackie and Cerby)

I'm going to ignore the off topic posts - OP, I think I'd be exactly the same if I was in your position BUT (and I have major trust issues in my relationship) checking up on/checking phones is a BAD IDEA! You know it deep down - imagine you were your BF and read through your phone - I bet you have texts etc that could be misconstrued?!

I checked up on my ex and found that he had been chatting to his ex on facebook inbox - I confronted him with this and boom. The trust disappeared on both sides.

Like I said, I have major trust issues in my current relationship (he pretty much cheated, after texting a woman for a while) but even now, while I still don't 100% trust that he is not chatting to anyone else, if he goes out and leaves his phone on the side, I HONESTLY do not touch it. Perhaps this is because I am afraid of what I might find, but nonetheless ..
