Simple time will do it, but especially combined with the age gap and the lie. It doesn't seem like much more should be required to lose interest.

Why?

(There's always a reason)

There were some things about him that bothered me, sure, personality quirks and such. But we all have our flaws. I have mine, too. I don't know I can pinpoint one specific reason. Overall, we had started to feel much more like friends than lovers. Coupled with the fact that the age gap was never quite resolved for me, these two elements were probably the biggest contributors to that "cold feet" feeling.
