Honestly, Tobey Maguire still looks like a freaking kid too. LOL! I kind of feel like it would look too weird, if you ask me. The next movie will be them as adults. Sure, he IS an adult... but he's too dang baby-faced.

Poor ole IT movie didn't get any best picture noms or acting noms. Completely shut out. Just for makeup, sound editing, visual effects they should have got something????

Well, I mean, I wouldn't really say it was a movie for good acting. LOL! Horror movies pretty much never get a nomination for that. Not best picture either. The award shows are so rarely any indication of the general public's opinions, viewing tendencies, etc.

But, to be honest, most horror movies don't exactly have great acting per se, but in many cases because it just has no place in certain kinds of horror movies. You aren't going to have a movie about an evil force that poses as a clown to torment and kill children and get Academy Award winning acting. LOL!

TheEvilJester ~ he just annoys the hell out of me. His face, his acting, even add the fact he left his wife because she wanted another child & he wanted to build his career instead & she put her career on the slow down for him & their family & he stepped his up, which is cool but you don't throw your family away because of it, so made me think he was using her as a stepping stone.

I was shocked it didn't get a special effects Oscar nomination too.

Wait, are we talking about Tobey Maguire there? Or Chris Pratt? Either way, I hadn't heard about that and definitely agree that isn't cool. I agree that it is great to want to build your career, but you don't throw your family away for that. Heck, I don't even necessarily understand why he'd even think he'd have to anyway. Whether we are talking about Maguire or Pratt, both of them are already pretty big stars. Besides, sure it isn't ideal (you are away from your family a lot), but a lot of Hollywood stars find a way to make it work.

Thanks to all who have posted on this movie! Been a difficult time for me and wasn't up to logging in recently and when I last did feel up to it there was what looked like Chinese spam on the website and assumed a virus was on here again, so I didn't bother even logging in. Now today I do log in and find flithy disgusting porn on another of my threads.

I liked the new IT movie. Would rate it a 8/10 with some minor issues to me but not even to star it down too much.

As having read some other comments I also am more interested in the Part 2 of this movie with the adult characters. More mature concerns/concepts. The current movie is very childhood driven as expected but was extremely similar to the t.v series Stranger Things which I am sure they stole parts from King's book and original IT movie and Stand by Me movie.

I really enjoyed the look of the movie, and the high level of acting we got and that scene where Georgie was killed. OMG so well done and memorable movie moments. I still stand by Pennywise mumbling and took a rating done for that for me, hoping next movie he speaks clearer.

Most memorable characters in IT for me would be: Pennywise, Ben, Beverly and Eddie. The rest meh. I think it was Beverly would to me was the leader not Bill.

On the discussion of who should play Ben, I recall reading on a movie site they thought John Krasinski should because they thought him similar to the actor John Ritter who played Ben apparently in the mini-series. He is a likable actor and I wouldn't mind that choice, anyone else?

I could see that. I wouldn't mind that. He's a big enough name (from The Office and all) without feeling like TOO big a name. Plus, I could see him doing well with the role. So, I'd be fine with that.

I would enjoy him as Ben also.

Did you all here that Jessica Chastain campaigned for the Beverly role and is friends with the director. So positive she will be in IT 2 cast.

Groans on Chastain hahaha.... but I think Jffs24 wanted her as Beverly but not 100% sure but think he stated that early on.

pcmaster..I think because the thread is still open is why...and the two new club members never really posted their reviews yet, so maybe another reason why? IDK just a thought...did you read topaz's comment in big club thread? she asked who wanted to continue movie group and only I replied... so if you want maybe suggest a new movie to review or make a poll to vote on for the new season and get it going.

I'm just a randomer so I post where I want, not even part of your movie group but topazlight said if I saw any movies you all were reviewing I could join in the discussions too. Why I was still discussing stuff in this thread.

Anybody and everybody is welcome to discuss. It's not like you have to be a card carrying, secret handshake knowing member of the group. (We totally have both of those things. LOL!) You can discuss without officially joining. Though, if you do wish to join you have to go through our initiation. It involves beating somebody up with your favorite movie prop. (That part, I'm probably making up. )

Hey all ~ been awhile since I logged in. waiting for all that pathetic spam to stop TBH. I re watched IT online copy hehehe on second watch I enjoyed maybe even more. Did it not qualify for 2018 Oscars? Because the visual effects were good & as mentioned should have got a few nominations. I really loved the Beverly character & don't want that particular actress in the role, she doesn't seem to be able to make her characters sympathetic they all seem cold.
