    I definitely wouldn't lie to her about that. You need to make sure she's going to be alright with him not going if he can't.

    And you need to make sure she knows it's a date. If she's known you for a while, she might just assume you're going to the movies as friends. In order to avoid any misunderstanding, you need to make it clear this is a date.

    ok how do i make it clear that its a date. and could i just tell her that john had something come up and wont be able to make it. i could tell her over the phone. i have to call her anyways.

    i feel really dumb for saying that now

    if i call her and say "there has been a change in plans, john cant go, do you want to reschedule or just go anyways?" would that be ok you think?

    also, dont you think its kinda aquard asking if its a date, i do. but if thats what you think i need to do ill do it!!!

    You need to fake some confidence, sweety. It's okay to tell her you are considering this to be a date. (Make sure you cough up the money though, since you invited her).

    When you talk to her just end a sentence with "... it's a date then"

    That's ambiguous. It's a common saying, so I don't think it really gets the point across.

    You're giving her too many ways to get out of this date. Just say that John can't go and you're just making sure that whatever time you guys had planned to go is still good for her.
