I think Pro-Lifers are deliberately taking women's rights away. They are telling women that it'd be better for the government to choose what can and cannot be done to their own bodies.

You see Lloyd, it's not about who makes the decision, it's about a moral right or wrong. Do you think it should be up to each person to decide if murdering your neighbor is okay or not or do we need laws to make it a crime?

Don't get me wrong, I do NOT have a stance on the abortion issue, just explaining that Pro-lifers don't view it as "Who can choose", they view it as murdering a child.

i'm not going to flame, but the poverty level of custodial mothers more than doubles that of custodial fathers. single mothers are more likely to be very, very poor.

also many custodial agreements are made outside of the court.

i got that info from the u.s. sensus in case you're wondering about sources.

I don't see any difference in capability in another person based upon exterior features. A person is a person. As long as we make it into an issue, it'll remain an issue. Some people try to go on an earth changing crusade but that will never improve a situation. It's all about how you view things, making a conscious choice one person at a time. After maybe half a dozen more generations maybe everyone truly will be equal, or maybe political correctness will ruin the whole idea of equality. Fact remains merit is much more important than the vessel that carries it. Do with that what you will, all I have to say about the topic.

I suggest you go for a sex change operation. Then you can see how "lucky" we are. Be sure they include ovaries, uterus and hormones so you will "get" to experience the joys of menstruation and childbearing, too. It's a real treat!

Regarding your 4 examples of where women are "luckier":

1. There is no draft going on for males, and I understand that there is discussion of including females should the draft be reinstated.

2. In divorce court, child custody is usually split 50/50 these days, unless you prove yourself to be a giant jackass, and material possessions are often purchased by the woman as well, since most women are employed.

3. I am not a sports fan so I could be wrong, but I don't know of any women playing professional football, baseball, hockey, basketball (you know, the sports people actually watch).

4. If women have their own gyms, it is so they can go to exercise without having men trying to hit on them.

The amount of money involved in female scholarship awards pales in comparison to those of idiot student athlete scholarships who are overwhelmingly male. (And admit it, most of those guys wouldn't be in college were it not that they can toss a ball into a hoop; academic geniuses they are not.)

Finally, don't you think it is SAD that there is a need for battered women's shelters?

Considering the lion's share of the household duties and child care fall on the woman's shoulders (in addition to her regular, salary-earning employment) I would say she has the right to buy things for the house. Including that stupid big-ass TV you men seem to require nowadays.

I believe that the average now during divorce is a 60/40 split or 65/35 split in favor of women, as far as splitting equity and assets. I know b/c I'm going thru this now.

Ok, I hate to disagree with you Shh!, it'll make us rolling around in the hay very awkward later....but alas...

1) I agree with you.

2)I think I just posted it was 65/35.

3)This is a whole other topic that I could rant about for days, but bottom line, if women want to join the mens division or league, and take away a spot from another man, then men should be able to do the same.

4)women should have their own gym, clubs etc. On the same token so should men. If a club says "Men Only" why would women even want to go in there if they know they're not wanted anyway?

A good example of this is the Masters and the uproar some women had about Augusta not allowing female members. hello? It's a PRIVATE club, which means they have the right to do whatever they want. It's not they they don't allow women to play there (like some clubs don't allow blacks), the women just can't be members.

The only thing we are disagreeing on is the divorce arrangements, but I suppose that could be attributed to us living in different states. Where I live, everything is 50/50. One parent or the other may take posession of the child(ren)'s bank account(s), making it appear that they have received more than half, but the money actually belongs to the kids.

And of course, if you include $30,000 pieces of jewelry as part of the settlement, then I guess that could skew the percentages. :-D

Isn't PA a community property state?
