Saying that humans are analogous to machines and computers especially is an insult to machines and computers; we're a helluva lot more error-prone and emotional.
Because we have to chase him. Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.

Its also about realising what you have and using it smart. Genetics is 50% the rest of who you are depends on you. Look at Arnold Swartzeneger. He won first place in competitions with bodybuilders who would destroy him geneticaly(Sergio Oliva). Still it was his mind and thinking out side the box that let him win. Its more about work on yourself and reaching your potencial than just genetics. Movie "Gattaca" says it all.

Modern society is so fake and emotionless. Everyone wants to make money and become rich at any cost regardless if the cost is the death of someone else.

People don't have emotions anymore and everyone is just a zombie who only wants to make a lot of money AT ANY COST.

Thats right. Todays society is fed with commercial BS. They think that ton of money can change life and give them everything. Why than milionares are not most happy people in the world? Why some boms look better than rich people? Infact just a smile can change life. Just a few nice words, just a touch. Just a dream. Look at Arnold Swartzeneger - he came to US with just a 20 bucks and heart full of dreams. People saw that his intends comes from heart and helped even without asking and he believed in himself too.

lol what is the point in this topic. OP what exactly are you trying to prove? Get to the ****ing point!

Humans are not like robots or machines. I dont believe that. We have such strong feelings/emotions. We form very strong attachments and bonds to others. Humans used to go on instincts like animals do but were so advanced now and the world is so modern that we do not need those instincts anymore. We still have some of them yes for survival.

example: a newborn baby is born with the instinct to suck and to turn his/her head towards your chest and they seek comfort in body heat. They also have the instinct to cry, blink and gag.

But then we grow and learn through social conditioning or classical conditioning. We learn from others around us and eventually start to form our own beliefs and opinions.

As far as I know that was your question but I could have read it wrong. You are wasting your time here though on a love forum coz nobody gives a crap

But Richard Dawkins says you are wrong. If you read Dawkins' famous book "the selfish gene" then you would know that we are indeed a lot like machines or at least our genetic material is like a machine.

We are all like machines in the sense that every organism is expected to evolve to maximize its inclusive fitness—the number of copies of its genes passed on globally (rather than by a particular individual). As a result, populations will tend towards an evolutionarily stable strategy. The book also coins the term meme for a unit of human cultural evolution analogous to the gene, suggesting that such "selfish" replication may also model human culture, in a different sense. Memetics has become the subject of many studies since the publication of the book.

Also humans are not so altruistic as you may think. I mean how else do you explain aggression and competition over scarce resources (including mate selection)? I mean modern society is excessivly competitive and socially Darwinian.

Aggression and competiton over females (and other scarce resources) is a very common trait observed in nature and this also includes humans of course. And aggression and competition over resources is just another evidence in support of evolution and natural selection.

There is also another book by David S. Goodsell called "The Machinery of Life" which completely explains that all living organisms and indeed all life processes are in essence mechanical.

LOL that is just one mans opinion. Im more inclined to believe psychological experts, scientists, doctors, sociologists, biologists, counsellors etc etc such as Dr Phil, Gary Chapman, Robert Weiss just to mention a few.

Biology doesnt play a huge role in our society as we are civilized and we no longer need our instincts.

Anyway they are all just theorys. people will believe what they want to believe. You cant force your opinion on others so its a waste of time trying. But I honestly think some people use the whole biology, instincts, nature crap just as an excuse to cheat on their partner-why else would they give a crap about it?

Its called brainwashing yourself, denial, excuses and BULLSHIT!

Except that he is right and you are wrong and you are still a dumbass. People like you choose to ignore how the universe really works but this doesn't change the cruel reality.

Everyone have their own reality what they believe and live in. You cant change their option cause its all they ever knew and experienced.

Not everyone has their own reality. We all pretty much live in the same reality, on the same planet and in the same universe. We are not that different from each other.

It's just that some people are healthier, stronger and more resilient than others socially and financially because they have "better" genes.

There is no logical reason to assume that human genetics is not related to how successful we are socially and financially because rational thinking tells me that human genetics completely determines (or almost completely) how healthy, how good-looking and how capable we are in life.

Do you have any other source than "my teacher said so" to support your 50% value?

Many things about your body are entirely determined by genetics - e.g. if a person has down syndrome they suffer from trisomy 21. I.e. the reason they have down syndrome and most people don't is genetics.

Many traits are entirely determined by genetic factors, and almost all of these traits have a genetic component.

So a statement like "Genetics probably make less than 50% of who we are" is vague and seemingly unsupportable by the evidence.

I am curious if you have anything to actually back it up.
