Junko - Sorry to chime in so late. I'm from Vancouver and, although I'm happily married now I have some relatively recent experience with the dating scene. Here is my nickel, fwiw:
1. You get what you pay for. If you are using internet dating sites, use the paid ones if you are looking for quality.
2. IMO, there is some truth that Vancouver is a more 'flaky' city than the bigger business hubs like Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. I've lived all over the world, so I can say this with some confidence. That said, it is still a big city w/over 3M people so you should be able to find someone compatible. There are plenty of non-BC born men here also.
3. Wakeup can be maddening at times to certain personalities and she seems to like it that way. Learn to shrug more. As Woody said, we *all* have our quirks (including you, that was some wicked PM to Wakeup, lol!). Keep in mind that this is a free forum and people posting here are largely doing it for entertainment. Any "serious" advice is at the whim of the crowdsourced internet and should be treated accordingly. If you demand consistent, serious advice, see a professional and pay for it.
Good luck in your dating adventures.

Second thoughts can generally be amended with judicious action; injudicious actions can seldom be recovered with second thoughts.
