Not an MVP, but I do know a thing or two about attraction. There have been some great points made here about being attracted to each other when you first meet but to me....thats when you put your best mack down. you don't try to help a girl through a breakup, you need to make her know why she broke up with that looser....and that is to get with you..

If you keep ending up as a "Friend" then your not doing your job right and probably talking about her ex. She is not thinking about you at this point and that is when you f-it all up.

No I'm saying that her going or not going out with you is completely irrelevant to whether or not you're hanging around and/or kissing ass.
To go out with you she has to be *attracted* to you, and that (strangely enough) does not vary with the amount of time and emotional support you invest into her.

Attraction, you bet. I find that when I hang out with one of my friends who's a girl and she's attracted to me, she will offer to pay. Its vice-versa whenever I'm with a friend who's a girl and I'm more attracted to her. Money talks, ya just have to listen.
