Romance movies aren't really my genre, but I liked that old Johnny Depp movie called Chocolate and another called Don Juan DeMarco, but it's very possible that the only reason I liked them was because of Johnny Depp.

The only Johnny Depp movie I've seen is The Ninth Gate

I gotta watch more movies. Especially the ones suggested above.

I am not a ghost and dirty dancing fan, I have watched them...once which was more than enough for me. I am probably in the minority of wimmin there, but my idea of a romantic night out at the movies is more along the lines of 300 or beowulf and Grendel not patrick wots his face.
If a guy were to take me to see something like ghost on a date I would think one of two things
    1. he didn't actually know anything about me
    2. he was gay

If a guy were to chat me up using ideas from ghost or the like...I would walk.

The thing about Ghost and Dirty Dancing is that they both have great scenes that exemplify how a man should touch a woman. It's instructional for Henry.

Ooh! Watch What's Eating Gilbert Grape... my favorite! It also has a very young Leonardo DiCaprio and Juliette Lewis. What a fantastic story!

No, those two are MY favourite romantic movies, you can't have them!

You can have "A Very Long Engagement"

Another romantic movie with a twist is "Leaving Las Vegas". A beautiful film even though it depresses the hell out of you.

I also loved Like Water for Chocolate, but that was mostly because it was one of my favorite books.

Which reminds me: did you know that "Love in the time of Cholera" is coming to the theater? Gabriel Garcia Marquez is my favorite author, so I hope it is done well.
i didn't read that one but i i read 100 years of solitude. boy was that book depressing. i'd like to see that movie though.

i'm having dinner with the mob.

on saturday i'm having a thanksgiving feast of my own. i'm making turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, calabecitas, carne adovada, and sweet potato pie.

    (the mob=mikey's family)

i'll also be spending some time with my grandfather, who is about to go to hospice.

Ah, sorry to hear about your grandfather. I'm glad he will be in hospice, though... those nurses are angels, and they really know how to manage pain.

calabecitas, carne adovada = what's that?

The corn dish looks yummy! (I don't eat pork, though.) I wonder if I could get my kids to eat it...

you probably could. it's really yummy. you could substitute green chili with some other spice or just leave it out. i've used red chili powder in it and it tastes awesome.

it's also really, rediculously easy to make. i'll hook you up with the recipe if you want.

also you could beef instead of pork for the carne. but pork is more tender.

where are those then? Henry let me know where they are when you watch them. I probably missed them, its hard to watch something when you are rolling your eyes every 2 seconds.
